Yang Jian 杨健
Yang Jian deploys seemingly mundane materials in order to narrate the habitual and limited experiences of daily life. Working across media such as painting, video, sculpture, and installation, Yang explores questions of power, social control, the role of capital, and the absurdity of organized civilization.
Yang Jian was born in Fujian, China, in 1982; he currently lives and works in Beijing and Nanjing. He received his MA from Xiamen University Art College, Xiamen, China.
